How (Not) To Become an Internet Personality.

Hello, all.  G-star here.  I always recognize friends by how quickly they notice a new haircut.  If they compliment it right away, you know that either they're a good friend or they stalk you (there's one girl in my Basketball class whom I'm not sure about).  If they point it out like it's a statement, they're probably just observant.  If they say it like it's a question, as in "You got a haircut?" then they're probably just nice acquaintances.  And if they don't notice it or take a day or two to mention it, then they don't know you very well.  It's the most concerning when they don't notice that you got a neon colored streak in your hair.
That's right, Starlets, I got that blue streak I've been talking about!  (Starlets...I kind of like that.  Like Potterheads or Owl Citizens.  Too bad it makes my fans [?] sound like teenage celebrities.  *shrug*)  My mom's (and now my) favorite hairstylist at a downtown salon is moving next month so we decided to get it done now.  Apparently it's my birthday present.  She had never used the blue dye before (I'm the first!) so the first time she put it in (after bleaching my beautiful brown hair *hair flip*) it turned this odd shade of sea green/silver.  I actually thought it looked pretty cool, but she was already going to the trouble of mixing a new batch so I didn't say anything.  Anyway, it turned out well and I'll include a picture below.
I also got my hair cut.  Some people might call it boyish, but I prefer the term "manageable".  The streak was put in before the cut, so it got a little funky when she trimmed my bangs.  But I still like how it looks.
Also, a happy Mothers' Day to moms everywhere, including my own!  Yesterday, as a present to the mom of the house, my family went to see that movie that just came out, Moms' Night Out.  My dad, brother and I thought it was ridiculously entertaining, but apparently the recipient of the gift got stressed out about all of it.  I looked over several times during the course of the film and never saw her smile even once.  To make up for it we had to go out and buy cake.
I really liked the cab driver character, for some reason.  Probably because he had a British accent.  I favor those.  Why did you think I was a Potterhead?  Naturally it's not for the adventure and magic.
The main character was supposed to be a "Mommy Blogger".  At the beginning of the movie she had stressed-out rants that, actually, I would've read, and three followers.  At the end when she posted this deep, metaphorical thing, she had 235 followers.
By the end of the movie I was just jealous.
Not to be ungrateful, I love and appreciate all you wonderful followers!  You're amazing!!!  But her sudden claim to fame was just unrealistic.  I mean, one post and suddenly she gains an extra 232 readers?  Personally, I thought that one entry was like most other really popular blogs out there: thinky stuff that isn't particularly entertaining yet is renowned for its greatness.  (I feel like I made every English teacher shudder right there.)  It also makes me wonder if that's why mine isn't particularly popular.  I've never liked serious content, or, as Patveli calls it, "real talk".  It makes me feel awkward.  That's the main reason I try to shy away from the darker topics in my entries.  MC finds it strange (nah, just annoying) that my main topic is myself, but what else would I talk about?  Many bloggers try to relate to their readers, but I'm not like many bloggers.  I know nothing about celebrities (I swear to God, I have no idea who Angelina Jolie is), don't go through many common situations that people may need advice on, or even really have anything that someone might vaguely recognize from their own life.  Seriously, I spend my time blogging, roleplaying, and reading manga.  Do you really think that I have much of a life to relate to?  MC and I spent LITERALLY ALL SATURDAY watching anime: Steins;Gate and The Devil is a Part-Timer.  (The latter was particularly entertaining.)  And if I strayed from my daily life I would have no choice but to end up in the shadows.  (See?!  Right there!  This paragraph is growing darker and darker!)  It makes me wonder what would happen if I really did start writing more serious entries.  Other than lose the few followers I currently have who read this for a few laughs, would I suddenly become an internet personality?  Hyperbole and a Half is a very popular blog (with its own omnibus!  I read it!) that's actually a bit similar to mine.  The big difference, though, is that the righter has many more experiences than I do to draw upon; also, while I focus on day-to-day topics, she writes whatever comes to mind that seems ridiculous at the time.  She also has funny pictures.  That probably helps.
Okay.  Now that that particularly rant-like paragraph is trailing off into jokes, let us sally forth.  (I love that comic strip.)
The school year is nearly over and my birthday is coming up.  (It's on a Monday.  Noooo.)  It was fun being a freshman...I guess?  Next year as a sophomore the Handshake Dynasty is going to do a little scavenger hunt involving cardstock figures I made of each member.  (Actually, I need to finish those.  I'll do requests, so just comment below for a character or, if it's a real person, include a picture!)  Prizes will be candy.  I suggested this to Patveli this year, but he said we should wait a year, since most students probably wouldn't take a bunch of freshman holding something like this seriously.  It does make sense, and we would have everything set by then.  This summer I promised myself to finally work on Zane's comic, which I have been putting off until now.  That might actually be a good thing, though, since my drawing style has improved quite a bit since I last messed with it.  I plan to lock myself in a room with no manga, books, or distractions besides a speaker setup with J-pop, Owl City, The Jellyrox, and Paramore blasting.  Of course, every time I swear to do this I end up balking out and reading a book.  So this time I have to be careful!
I would gladly go on for hours about this stuff, but I won't put you through that, so I'll go now.  Since I posted today, the next entry probably won't be until...maybe Thursday?  Probably later, unless I have something I really want to write about.  Until then, this is G-star, signing off.

9/9/9: The Day of the Bloggers (Request to Destroy/Unrealistic Writing Limits)!

Hello, all.  G-star here.  View stats are at nine hundred and ninety-nine, so this is a landmark event!  (I admit a couple of those were probably me checking the layout on different computers, but it's still kinda cool.)  After you read this (or even before; I really don't care) comment below and the first comment (AKA view if you do it right) gets their choice of a blog dedicated to them about the topic of their choice (well, it has to be appropriate) or a hand-drawn picture of them.  So get commenting!  (I think I may prevent MC from participating.)
Speaking of drawings, I finished the one I was working on for the background.  It turned out great and I think it represents the blog pretty well.  ^_^  The only problem I have is how I'm going to get the color scheme of the page to work with the colors I used in the picture...ah well.  It'll all work out.  How odd that if I'm working on my comic or just some random drawing I rarely get it finished, EVER, but if it has to do with my blog I'll finish it in two days.  There's my dedication for you.
Now that the background's finished I'll (probably) be working on editing the site all day.  It may be offline if I can figure out how to make it so, and oddly, I hope I can because I have this cool picture I found to put up when you can't access the page that I doubt anyone's gotten a chance to see.  I don't know exactly why I've been so impatient to change the layout, but one reason is probably because I just got bored of looking at it.  While it looks decently cool, I need change once in a while.  (As long as it's not moving or going bald or anything.)  Another reason, however, may be that, if I get my blog looking better and put my own art up, it might get more popular.  I want to put up Adsense as a part of the new template but I don't have a credit card, much less spare change, so it'll have to wait until I get a job...or something.  Until then, do you think any of you may be able to mention or advertise it on your various social networking sites?  I'd do it myself, but the only ones I use are roleplaying sites that I only use one of at a time and G+, where my posts are already published regularly.
If you can, then thank you.
A substitute teacher has been overseeing my basketball class this last week, if you can even call it that.  He has no authority, and even if he did he's not very threatening so I doubt anyone would listen to him.  While we were supposed to be doing drills half the class was just wandering around and shooting randomly.  A few just stood and dribbled in the middle of our Rush drill, and it was annoying BEYOND BELIEF.
For the last twenty minutes of class (T-T Twenty minutes....that's too long to do one repetitive thing!!) we played Blitz.  The teacher has an amp setup at the back of the gym and has someone play music the whole class.  For some reason during Blitz the person always plays rap.
This combination of a repetitive game I hate and repetitive music I despise nearly makes me crack.  Every day.  I had an odd Nagato-like urge to go up to the substitute, say in a monotone voice "Request to destroy.  Permission?" and then go bust up the amps until I couldn't hear that boring beat and incessantly fast swearing.
     Yeah, I wish.
I really do hate rap music.  It can't even be called music, because music, by definition,
"an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color."  Rap does not contain melody or harmony.  Color, however, it has in abundance. - _ -  Yes.  It's very colorful.  It's colorful like a war zone.
Topic change time.  In IHS Literature we just finished the book we've been reading, The #1 Ladies' Detective Agency, and now our end-of-book project is a choice: an essay on theme, an essay on character, an extra chapter for the book, or a short story about the detective of our choice.
     A "short" story.  Right.
I, of course, picked the short story, which seemed the best choice, especially since I already had a detective character from a story I started in middle school (but didn't save or print and so lost to an end-of-year computer wipe T-T).  Originally he was based off the main character of my comic/previously posted half-story (hence the name Zane White), but ended up being much different than the original.  And for the better.  I centered him around the classic PI characteristics.  Technically I'm not sure if they're "classic" per say, but they were in Calvin and Hobbes and that's good enough for me.
Understandably, my Lit. teacher doesn't want to sit and grade twenty novels, so she put a word limit on the short story of 1,500 words.  At first glance it seems perfectly reasonable...until you start writing and realize how unrealistic that goal is.   White has just found clue 1/5 and I'm already a thousand words in.
     Yeah, THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
I don't want to have to make the teacher read a novel in two days, but no amount of cutting and editing is going to get my mystery anywhere near her limit.  It's a bit worrying, but she said to just write and then work that out later.  Right.....she's going to end up having to read my 4,000-word book.
Once it's finished I'll post it up here, because it's actually pretty good, at least so far.  I might end up having to take out several parts, but I'll put the full one up here, possibly with a continuation if I can't fit in absolutely everything I want to write.
The rough draft's due next Monday, so I should have it up at latest by Wednesday.  I'm considering doing it in chapters like my previous story for shortness's sake, but you tell me what you want.  I'll be updating the site for the rest of the day and possibly longer, so don't wait up.  Until then (or tomorrow, if I have a reason to post), this is G-star, signing off.

The Adventures of Discount Damsel (Intense Accidental Soulfulness/No Fingers But Still Attractive)!

Hello, all.  G-star here.  My apologies for not posting the last two days; I was home sick Wednesday and was prevented from touching the computer except for doing homework, and yesterday I spent all my time after school finishing an IHS Literature project called a 'shadow box'.  I typed up all the information I needed this past week and threw the thing together yesterday.  I must've had a much different idea than the rest of the class about what a shadow box was supposed to look like, because everyone else's was more like a diorama than anything, with nearly every box folded or cut in some odd way, while mine was simply covered in bits of writing, with no particular angle to look at it by in order to see everything at once.  The teacher seemed to love it, which is great, but she also talked about all these deep meanings behind the style of the box.  When I told Mom about it later, she said that I should've gone "yeah, yeah, I totally meant to do that," but in reality, all I said was "um...that was an accident....yeah, didn't do that on purpose..." while she went on about how looking at it from all different angles was similar to deception (my topic) and lots of metaphors I didn't really understand.  But apparently it was really deep.
Fortunately, today I actually have a lot to talk about.  Sometime in December I first saw a trailer for this new Lego movie that's coming out.  I'm personally not to interested in Legos (at least now; I use to play with them all the time as a kid...you know '90s astronaut?  He was my best friend) but this looks like a pretty good movie.  Recently, I've noticed that, instead of using a song that fits the movie, trailers have recent, popular songs.  Every time I go to the library I get a CD; most of the time it's a Now That's What I Call Music CD (with some caution) and it helps me find new bands and music.  Last time the CD I checked out had a track called "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings (sounds like a retro band).  Well, the latest Lego Movie trailers I've seen had that song playing in the background. ?_?  What??  I know that's a relatively older song.  So why do I just now start hearing it, right after I've first heard it???  Really odd...
Speaking of Legos, the Ninjago series is continuing.  Believe it or not, I love that show, mainly because it's not nearly as cheesy as some other adventure cartoons I could mention... *cough cough Bey cough*  But also because of my favorite character: Zane.  I actually started the series when it first started, about two years ago, and I based one of my first roleplay characters off of him (well, I kind of had to, considering it was a Ninjago roleplay).  After lots of experiences, adventures, and relationships that the original Zane never had, he was way different (and had a last name).  (This is who the Zane in my comic is based on; in fact, the whole series will be written off of his experiences in the roleplay.)  Anyway, I'm completely obsessed over him, and when Pixel appeared in the new series I immediately became possessive and started shouting "NO!  NO, ROBOT LADY, YOU CANNOT HAVE ZANE!  ZANE IS MINE...ALL MIIIINE..."  I believe I might've done the same thing when his fan club appeared in the first series. ^_^"  Heheh.  Can't help it.  I've grown too attached to him over the course of writing him and watching him.  I'm hoping for great things from this continuation.
Today after school my little brother spontaneously decided to go to Big Lots and shop for useless yet cheap items.  That's the only reason I'm glad Minecraft club was canceled for today.  I finally got my IHS Geography test back after weeks of waiting, and it turned out I aced it.  So I pretended that this was a reward for that.  Therefore I feel justified in buying Lucky Charms, puffy mint candies, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (on DVD).
My family never really does stuff like this, where we go out to buy simply for the sake of buying -- in other words, a shopping spree -- and it was actually very fun.  Sometimes I go to Goodwill with Dad to find supplies for something or another and we find the weirdest stuff.  This was better.
While I was looking at $10 headphones with microphones (I was planning to get some so I could make MC videos with Roo, but it turned out the microphones were on the cord, and, understandably, it's difficult to press keys and move a mouse while holding a cord up to your mouth) a customer chatting with one of the employees walked past, and all I heard was "Your mother died?!"  Obviously, I started listening at that point.  The employee was responding to the customer's casual way of saying something and thought that he said his mother had died.  It turned out she had heard him wrong, but it scared me for a sec.  Later, while I was wandering around by the school supplies (I seemed to naturally gravitate there; go, geeks, unite) an elderly man I walked past mumbled something.  I didn't know who he was talking to, so I continued on my merry way, but then he leaned out of the aisle and said "Miss!  Do you know where...oh.  You don't work here."  He almost sounded condescending, like "Why don't you work here?!  I needed an employee!"  '_' "  I don't really understand how he could have mistaken me for an employee.  They all wear this odd black and orange polo shirt as a uniform, and today I wore my favorite t-shirt, a gray All-State shirt I bought at a school garage sale (I had claimed it when I saw it in the gym as they were setting up; it has served me well since, and is very comfortable).  They look nothing alike.  Although I am the same height as one of the female workers I had seen earlier (the one yelling about dead mothers)...
Later still (we were there for a really long time) I was at the hair supplies section because I needed (and still need, in fact; all they had were hair ties, bobby pins, and leopard-print clips) hair clips (which keep mysteriously disappearing in the wash ',:[ ) and I noticed (this sentence is being continuously filled with parenthetical speech...it's more fun than I would've though) a -- of all things -- Twilight Sparkle Ceramic Detailer.  It said it could "easily create Edward's textured style in seconds!"  PFFFFFT.  I burst out laughing in the middle of the store.  (Fortunately, nearly no one was there or that would've been embarrassing.  Maybe.)  I could just picture all the girls who buy that because they want to look "just like Edward!"  (No offense if you did buy that product; I'm simply sparklephobic.  Sparkling is unvampirely.  No, those aren't words.)
I also found a Spanish version of the Green Hornet, but that's not as interesting.
Well, I just spent four hours typing, taking care of my Pokemon eggs, roleplaying, and playing a 300-level computer games, so I'd say this was a pretty fulfilling evening.  Also, I might have time for Mini-Rambles this weekend, because I had tests in three of five periods today, and so received no homework.  Until next time, this is G-star, signing off.

Mini-Ramble: In a Rush, But Please Enjoy (Zane Art)!

Hello, all.  G-star here.  Sorry, I would've liked to post yesterday or even Thursday, but my brother has been on the computer almost nonstop since Christmas.  I don't know how he manages this since he's also been playing his new Pokemon Y game nonstop, but...
I had a great Christmas, and I hope you did, too.  (Now here comes the New Year....)  What'd you get?  (Rhetorical question; I know that no one comments on my blog. T-T)  I received a new computer drawing tablet, and I spent the entirety of Christmas day working on a picture of Zane (the main character of my comic).  It turned out great!  The one problem I'm having is that I drew it on a manga software, and it cuts the picture off at the borders of where the comic would regularly be.  Also there's a page number on it.  Other than that, however, I'm happy with it, and I hope you will be as well.  Yes, I'm actually posting a promised drawing!  (I never did put up that angel drawing, did I...?)  Please enjoy.
I have a lot else to say, but not enough time, so I will tell the rest this coming week.  (Since it's not like anything else interesting will happen any time soon.)  Until then, G-star out.
And there's that page number....^
And there.^
