There's No Specific Topic I Can Base the Title On... (Sorry, I Suck)

*Well, here's the tricky bit.  I wrote this on Friday but didn't get a chance to finish it so I'm posting it on Saturday.  However, there are several time references in this entry that don't really make sense if read on the weekend and that I'm too lazy to go over and change, so just read this as if today is Friday.  Thank you.*

Hello, all.  G-star here.  Man, it's a beautiful day!  Okay, so it's really cloudy and a little chilly but, to be honest, that's my favorite kind of weather.  Not too hot, not too cold.  Sunny, humid days drive me nuts because I hate wearing shorts; they're too tight.  (I'm sure the Shorts Boy from Pokemon would hate me.  I'm sorry, but they are NOT comfy or easy to wear.)  Why do guys get the comfortable clothes?  Chicks only get skintight, low-cut crud.  It drives me crazy.
It's odd how little I always say I have to talk about, yet somehow manage to write an annoyingly lengthy entry.  (Yes, I'm stalling.)  I suppose I might soon stop talking about things that happen and instead discuss various topics, like most other bloggers do.  It seems to work for them.
I actually had a pretty good day yesterday.  In basketball they actually played real music instead of the REALLY SUCKY RAP (see, Patveli, I'm not referring to all rap now.  Happy?) the boys the teacher puts in charge of the stereo setup usually play.  I knew them all.  (That's how I judge most music.)  In Gaming Club, not only was I one of the first people there (so I got to play a ton), but I rocked their socks off.  All the practice I do with my brother really payed off.  Apparently, though, in Super Smash Bros. 4 they're getting rid of both Ike and Pokemon Trainer, my two favorite characters.  It really shouldn't matter to me since it's only for 3DS and Wii U so I can't play it (or at least not multiplayer), but the fact that they're ditching a popular character like Ike really ticks me off.  Fortunately, I don't think the Gaming Club's planning on changing versions anytime soon, so we're probably okay.
Later, during IHS Health, the mom of a girl in the class came to give a talk.  If you could call it that.
The topic was sexual assaults, and for some reason she spent the entire class wandering around handing out candy.  At the end of class she just held out the bowl out for anyone who wanted it.  I grabbed several handfuls of Starbursts and just shoved them in my vest pocket for the walk home.
Speaking of which, I've been walking home with MC the last couple of weeks.  It's been nice out, and the only day we didn't walk was Wednesday because she wasn't feeling well.  She still isn't actually, but apparently it's just that she can't breathe through her nose, so...wish her well!
Every time we end up having an in-depth conversation on the Kagerou Project (KagePro).  I started reading the manga online a while ago, but got distracted by Black Butler.  (Speaking of which, I've finally caught up to the online chapters!  I'm really excited for Finny's flashback!!)  Now that I'm done with that, though, MC's having me go through a list of the order in which I have to listen to the songs, read the manga and light novels, etc...it's a bit confusing, but I already know a little of what happens from what she told me and later songs I listened to early just out of curiosity and not knowing what they were.  So that makes it even more confusing.  (... - _ -")
I now have yet another comic-in-progress.  It's based off of a roleplay I'm currently doing, which is based off of James Patterson's Maximum Ride.  It'll be tricky to pull off, but since I'm fairly good at drawing wings it won't be overly difficult to draw the actual comic.  What I'm worried about is the copyright issues involved.  But that's what I'm always worried about, so it's just part of the daily grind.
As I believe I've said before, Zane's comic is based off a roleplay I did a long time ago that originated as a Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu fanfic roleplay.  Since the majority of the characters involved have the same names as the original TV show characters I have to change some to make it seem more different.  But of course, I can't change Zane's name, so Nya is now Kenna, Sensei is still Sensei, and I'm working on Cole.  (Kai, Jay, Lloyd, and others never appeared, for some reason.)  Also, someone played their version of Marceline from Adventure Time, but I didn't realize this at the time because I had no interest in the show.  Now though, she's probably going to be Maybelline.  Unfortunately there is also the problem of changing her background, mainly from vampire queen to something with equal effect...?
Cale, fortunately, is fine as he is.  As is Zane.  I'm not touching him...well, except for the bit about him being a robot.  That actually played a fairly large part in the roleplay, but I've found an alternate plotline.  I'll post chapters here once I start working on it; I've decided to just do the whole thing on my Manga Studio Debut 4.0 program since it has pre-programmed panels you can insert and I suck at drawing straight lines so that'll help.  Also, I don't have to worry about screwing up while inking.  This is the third time I've drawn this comic; the second I did because I had figured out a new drawing style that worked better for the book than my old.  I suppose it's all due to my procrastination.
Sorry this post is late; I've been fairly busy as of late and haven't had a chance to get on the computer.  The next post will probably be up sometime next Tuesday or Wednesday once I've finished my IHS Lit. project (an art project on the book we were reading, Night by Elie Wiesel.  I'll put it up here once I'm done), so until then, this is G-star signing off.

Mini-Ramble: A Lengthy Description of Something MC Hates (Learn to Roleplay).

Hello, all.  G-star here.  Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but we finally started the written work in business class and didn't have time.  But I'll make up for it today, with an in-depth article about something Patveli and MC treat with disdain...roleplaying.
Firstly, roleplaying is not a chat room.  It can be if used the wrong way, but I try to avoid those kinds of sites.  Done right, it is no more and no less than multiplayer creative writing.  One person (sometimes two) come up with a plot, set up a thread, and gather users to play characters to certain conformities.  Sometimes there is a limit to the number of characters, sometimes you just make one up and jump in, but almost always there is a character "skeleton" with the required information the GM (Game Master) will need to know about your character.  Personally, I prefer skeleton threads, since the characters are a little easier to tell apart and look up facts about, but if you don't like spending time writing up a whole background then you might like jump-in roleplays.
That being said, there are a couple different types of websites for roleplays.  The one I prefer has a couple different categories for the plot and you can make your own stories whenever you want, with an Out Of Character and an In Character thread, separately.  On the site I'm currently using, skeletons are required and admins have to check over each and every OOC thread.  It must be hard.
A site I tried a while ago was completely different, though.  There were maybe fifteen roleplay 'worlds' in each genre category, and each one contained hundreds of threads.  You couldn't interact with every character at once like in the smaller stories I favor, but instead had to write a short plot somewhere within that world and invite some people to join you in it.  That was just too complicated and didn't have enough choices, so I ditched it.
I enjoy roleplaying because you can write whatever you want, but you don't have to do it by yourself.  I've known some people to write short stories or even books about roleplays they participated in.  It can give inspiration for stories or just be practice for future writing.  And chatting is very rare and is usually limited to questions about the roleplay.
Well, MC?  Do you understand my hobby a little better now?  Have Patveli read this.  I'll continue it tomorrow with how I make my character skeletons.  I had intended to do that today, but figured I had better make sure you understand what I'm talking about first.  (I never did that Pokemon, but oh well.  That's sort of to be expected.)  So instead, I'll talk about character skellies tomorrow.  Until then, this is G-star, signing off.

     Roleplaying Vocabulary

  • GM/Game Master - Creator of the roleplay, approves character skeletons and creates the IC.
  •  OOC/Out Of Character thread - Where a short summary of the roleplay plot is given and people can submit their character skeletons for approval.
  • IC/In Character thread - Where the real roleplaying goes on.  Any and all OOC questions and chatting is to be avoided here.  Timeskips and lengthy two-person interaction is common here.
  • Forms/Character skeletons (Skellies)- Short forms with relevant information about roleplay characters.  Often include anime-style pictures of the characters in question.  Ex:

    Name:
    Age:
    Gender:
    Appearance (pic please!):
    Personality:
    Short Bio:
    Other:
  • Thread - A part of a roleplay forum that can posted, taken down, or edited at will.  They are the first post of the IC or OOC of a roleplay.  This is where everyone involved in the roleplay posts.
  • Post - A submitted segment of your character's interaction with another.  I really can't summarize this.
  • Subscriptions - Specific threads that are set to send you notifications when posted on.
  • Signature (Siggie) - The pictures and/or text that appear underneath your posts.  Can be personalized to preference.
  • Bio/Biography - A short (sometimes) summary of your character's past, family, and experiences.  Sometimes includes their personality as well.
  • Accept - A function of GM's; to look over a character skelly and make sure it meets specifications.
  • Timeskip - A common occurance in more detailed roleplays where the GM skips any and all interactions until a set time (often used to avoid lengthy conversations before exciting or important parts).

All You Never Wanted to Know About Me (My Profile Obsession).

Hello, all.  G-star here.  I'm sorry I spent the entirety of the last post talking about Pokemon, but....it was worth it.  SO worth it.  I got a whole seventeen views from posting it on the Pokemon community page.  I know.  Amazing, right?
It's the end of the second trimester, and I've been getting a crudload of assignments from all my teachers.  Of course, spring break is the light at the end of the tunnel, along with the fact that, third term, I won't have to take geometry or French.  *celebration*  I'm looking forward to that, but until then, nothing interesting is likely to happen.  So....I've been wanting to do this: profile time!
For some reason, I really enjoy writing up profiles for people I know.  I also do this for characters I'm working on; I was starting a script for my comic, but after five minutes I got bored and began character profiles.  They help me understand the characters a little more, maybe....  More likely it's a side effect of roleplaying.  Eh.
I've noticed that, throughout the course of the blog, I actually haven't said much about myself personally.  Just my daily life.  So now you get to get to know me.
Anyhoo, enjoy!  MC, you have no reason to read the rest of this.  We see each other every day; I think you know me well enough already.  Next week's post might be a tad late; Patveli is having a Super Metroid anniversary party.  But at least that means I'll have a lot to talk about....until next time, then, this is G-star, signing off.

Name- Sara G.
Age- 14
Gender- Female
Personality- See, this is the hard bit.  In reality, I'm a little hyper/violent, yet at the same time perpetually dazed and a bookworm.  On the internet, however, I'm way calmer, and I like to think that I'm even "cool".  (collected cool, not awesome. ^-^')  I try to take on a sort of princely persona.  In both reality and fiction, though, I love making people laugh...it's almost what I live for.  Unfortunately, in real life my jokes aren't often gotten.  Too bad.

Pet Peeves- Condescension, people who are so bossy they think they're entitled to treat everyone however they want (this is why I absolutely DESPISE Akito Sohma and Dolores Umbridge), people walking REALLY slowly right in front of me, students copying work, people saying 'like' several times in one sentence.
Worst Fear(s)- Zombies, realistic mannequins. 0-0

Mini-Ramble: Chapter 1 (Evil Static/The Endless Reading Cycle)

Hello, all.  I'm sorry this is a day late; MC and Ducis (the aforementioned "private club's" fearless leader) came over yesterday to help me practice for the Gaming Club's upcoming "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" tournament.
I don't think I mentioned this before; see, oddly enough, my school's video game club is really more serious than any of the others.  Last year's club president did absolutely nothing for the club, but this year's president (well, more like the second-in-command is doing all the work) is putting on a fundraiser to buy more games, remotes, and overall better equipment in the form of a tournament.  There's a two-dollar entry fee, and I was the first to sign up.  I plan on using Ike, because, although I've been using Pokemon Trainer the most during club meetings, Ike is my best character.
Anyway, there's been something slightly concerning going on in my bedroom.  I've been sleeping with 3-5 blankets on top of my comforter since October, and now, whenever I shift any of them, you can hear crackling static.  I've been shocked a few times just getting out of bed.  And at night, when I sit up to fix the blankets at the bottom of the bed, you can see flashing sparks.
It's kind of cool, but I'm a little scared I'll get a bad shock one of these days.  I already have static problems with my hair.
Speaking of night, last night I sat down in bed at about 9:30 to read volume 4. of Loveless.  I had intended to read maybe two chapters, do a little drawing, and then get up, say goodnight to my parents, and go to bed so I could listen to an audiobook.  Next thing I knew, I looked up and it was 11.
I had been reading like this: every couple of chapters I would decide to read another, since it wasn't that late yet and I was a fast reader, and I'd do that again, and again, and so forth, until I realized I had finished the book.  I didn't think it would take an hour and a half to read a manga, but I guess it did (and it makes sense since Loveless is longer than most).  By the time I got up the lights were off and I wasn't planning on crossing the house in the dark to see if they were awake -- I've been reading a reeeeaaaally good ghost novel by Jonathon Stroud, one of my favorite authors -- so I just went to bed, wondering if they would think I was mad at them.
"Oh, one more chapter won't hurt....hm, I can't stop here, so I'll keep reading until I find a good cut-off spot...I'm almost done, so why stop now?...oh."  That pretty much describes my reading patterns.  Once I start, I can't stop, no matter what I promise myself.
This leads to a lot of prematurely finished books and a lengthy period of boredom between me finishing every book to the next library visit.
     I need help.
In any case, here are the last two chapters of my story, unparalleled in lack of perseverance.  I'm doing two at once because the last one is very short and it would be pointless to post it by itself.  Next week, if at all possible, I'll start posting bits and pieces of the comic instead, and if not, bits of roleplays I did or fan art, which will go along faster from now on since I finally have a drawing style I can work with quickly and well.  Until Wednesday, G-star out.

Chapter 1 -- Sensei

Geesh, maybe I should take that guy out shopping for people skills, thought Zane, when suddenly a petite, dark-haired girl came out of the other room (how there could be another room in a warehouse, Zane couldn’t guess) carrying a pile of boxes.  Even sweaty with effort and wearing a baggy hoodie that was rolled up to the elbows, Zane couldn’t stop gaping.  She flicked her short bangs out of her eyes (Zane could have sworn it was in slow motion with little flowers) and glanced up at Zane.  “As long as you’re doing nothing other than gaping open-mouthed at my forehead, could you give me a hand, newby?”  Zane nodded, still slightly jaw-dropped, and took a box off the top of the stack.

“Oh, Zane, that’s my niece, Kenna.  She’s living here until her parents make up, and she’s a pretty skilled martial artist herself.”  No kidding, thought Zane, at the risk of sounding cheesy, she’s already karate chopped my heart for sure.  And then he dropped the cardboard box on his foot, emitting a yelp of pain.

Mini-Ramble: Chapter 1 (A Day Late; My Apologies)

Hello, all. G-star here, posting the next paragraph a day late. I'm sorry; I was on yesterday, but I spent the whole time filling out a character form for a roleplay (I'm very proud of how he turned out, though, so no regrets). This is unrelated, but I got another question about my "accidental haircut" this morning. A boy in my youth group whom I haven't seen in while had this conversation with me: Boy- "Didn't you use to have long hair?" Me- "Yes..." Boy- "Why'd you get it all cut off?" Me- "Because I wanted to..." Boy- "Are you going to grow it out again?" Me- "No, probably not, I like this style..." Apparently most guys I know thought that my hair looked better longer...or maybe they just got so used to it that now they think someone forced me to cut it all off. I don't understand why, I think my hair looks better now than it did before...anyway, here's the next part of my story.

Chapter 1 -- Sensei

He stared at her blankly for a moment before the woman rapped smartly on his skull.  “Hello?  Anyone home?”  The boy blinked and rubbed his head, then put his fist against his opposite palm, fingers pointing skyward and bent his waist in a traditional Chinese bow.  “Oh, sorry...I’m here to redeem a certificate for one free lesson,” he said, moving back into a casual position and looking around.  “This is the Four Fires Dojo, correct?”  The woman nodded and held out a hand, which the boy stared at blankly.  “You’re good at that, aren’t you?”  The woman asked, and the boy kept staring at her.  “What?”  He said, shrugging.  The woman rolled her eyes and said “Just give it to me.”  Receiving another empty stare, she thrust her hand out further, causing the boy to flinch.  “The signup sheet!  With your information!  Don’t tell me you simply wandered here by accident…”  Realizing what she meant, he hurriedly pulled a folded piece of paper out of his jeans pocket and relinquished it to the woman, who looked it over and nodded in satisfaction.  “Alright, come in.  The lesson starts in a few minutes.”  After opening the door wider, she disappeared inside with the boy following surprisingly promptly behind.

Mini-Ramble: Prologue (Stupid Fact of Time Machines Not Existing Yet v_v)

Hello, all.  G-star here, with some annoying news.  Firstly, I'm sorry I wasn't able to post yesterday, but the computer was off-limits, no matter how much I begged and told Mom that I had a blog (and a reputation) to uphold.  Also, I didn't have time to scan the picture I finished recently (urrrgh) so I'll have to do that tomorrow.  It will be up soon, I promise.  And, lastly, the forums are not done yet.  *loud booing from readers*  GONEN'NASAI!!  I'm actually working on it as I write (don't ask how that's possible), but I only had about half an hour on the computer and that, sadly, was not enough time to finish putting up all the roleplay boards, not to mention all the chat/OOC categories.  I hope to have that finished by tomorrow as well.  For now, you'll have to settle for the prologue (aka first chapter) of that book I mentioned.  Remember...copyright.  Until Wednesday, G-star out.

Prologue
A tall, pale figure stood at the edge of a cliff, looking down on the crashing waves.  Large, glistening wings suddenly spread out behind it, intimidating away anything that might have been watching.  After it was assured that there wasn’t a living creature for miles around, it stepped off into the night and glided over the shimmering water.  The moon came out from behind a cloud to reveal a young man, wearing metal wings.  Stranger than this, however, was the fact that his shaggy bedhead was as white as the moon itself.

Mini (Not)-Ramble: Everything's New (Except My Old Story)!

Hello, all.  G-star here, with a special mini-ramble!  The one club at school I've permanently dedicated myself to so far is the Battle of the Books club.  I just finished reading on of the BOB picks, Every Day by David Levithan, and I just had to write a review for it!  Of course, the part I REALLY want to rant about would be a gigantic spoiler, so I'll just have to fume silently...  Anyway, Every Day is about a.......heshe named A.  A doesn't have his/her own body, but "possesses" someone new every day, all around the same age in in the same area.  While possessing a boy named Justin A meets Justin's girlfriend, Rhiannon, and falls in love with her.  I can't really go further than that, but it's a great book and you should read it!!  Except, it has a really sucky ending....*sigh*  Wow, that was supposed to be most of the entry, but I guess it'll only be about half.  Yes, I have more; two more topics, to be specific.  Firstly, as this is the one I'm less likely to get off on a tangent on, I've been having trouble finding a decent roleplay website.  To quote what I said in my introduction on a recent attempt... "The first one I tried was overly addictive and took the characters/plot way too seriously. The second one (I'm not naming any names here, you'll notice) was extremely active and I had to visit it several times a day (which I can't) just to keep up with one thread. The third one, that I started just a few days ago, has some great stories, but the best ones are pretty much dead. In other words, I make a character but no one responds or okays it."  The new rp I tried recently is making things difficult as well, though this may have something to do with the fact that I never try to join a thread with more than fifteen posts so I can catch up easily.  The thing is, most of the roleplays I find that fit that criteria have so few replies because they died off early on, so no one accepts my character anyway.  It drives me nuts...
Next topic: I was looking for a picture I drew of the characters in a comic I had been working on, considering continuing it, when I found the first two pages of a story I wrote last year in school; not as a school project, just in my free time.  I re-read it and was surprised how much better it was than most of my other short stories.  It had even me hooked; and I wrote it!  So I decided to continue the story.  It's based off a roleplay I used to do and means a lot to me.  The thing is, though, that said roleplay was based off a tv show, but it got off-track.  I have to create new names and relationships, but fortunately, some of the characters never showed up and others didn't have the same personalities as the originals, so it probably won't be recognizable.  I'll be posting a paragraph of my book and one book review/suggestion (I read a lot, so I should be able to deal with that) every Saturday from here on out, so please enjoy, and remember, this website is copyrighted to Sara G., A.K.A. me, so don't repost it or claim it as your own...or I'll find you.  I know it's Friday, but I just really wanted to post today.
Wow, this was a lot longer than I intended...even longer than a regular post.  There was one more thing I wanted to talk about; something strange happened the other day and it brought an interesting thought to mind.  I'll tell you as soon as I can remember what it was.  For now, G-star out.  See you Wednesday.
